Creative Corn! PDF Print E-mail

Who knew husking corn could be so full of teachable moments? When you've got a soon-to-be five year old, it's a fascinating job-full of new words, like husks, corn silks, cob and maize. And some funny questions, like why are they called 'ears' of corn anyway?

It makes math fun, too. If we have six ears to husk, and we've husked one, how many are left? The best part is you've got help making dinner--and kids who are willing to eat their vegetables because they worked hard to prepare them!

Everyone feels good about contributing to the meal, making it rewarding to share together at the dinner table.
